Day 37 - Monday, April 14

Coldspring, TX to Kountze, TX - 64 miles - 2015 total

This time I got within 7.5 miles before the skies opened.
Once again, the day began under a cloud, but we were assured there was only a 50% chance of precip, so we set off on a positive note.
Other than the constant checking over the shoulder at the building storm clouds, it was a great ride.. The roads, through three counties, remained smooth, the traffic was both light and bicycle-friendly, it was warm albeit muggy,  and the winds were constantly at our backs. The fly in the ointment was that the same winds were pushing the storm clouds ever closer. And eventually they caught me, despite my best efforts to outrun them, and I was soaked.
Our original plan was to camp behind a Methodist church, but the custodian, upon our arrival, graciously opened the church hall for us.
The forecast tomorrow is clear and cool, which is fine by me; at least I'll start out warm and dry.
Two factoids that may interest only me: the soil in east Texas is red, very much like east Africa, and we're encountering a lot of logging trucks, which makes the riding very much like back home.
Last night in Texas; Louisiana here we come!

And the chase is on.

Caught.

Sleeping in the nursery tonight.
